Sunday Services - 6/26/05

yo yo yo, it's david with another post... today was a day of services at the SungShan Church. i was awoken bright and early by a 7:30 am service. the early service was a small crowd. we weren't involved with that service, so we took the time to wash up, get dressed and get our daily fix of slew lung bows and lo bok gows. the next service was at 9:30. it was facilitated by our main liaison, dhoui. Hei and I led worship, and Dhoui even tossed in a few hymns. PAL gave a sermon about misguided leading, divine leading, and empowered leading. the service lasted over 2 hours long. the Taiwan team was recognized and introduced, and a presentation was made for the love offering that GFC is giving to the Sungshan Church. afterwards, a special lunch was prepared by members of the church. we took a couple hours to recuperate before starting the english service at 3:30. Hei and I again led worship, and PAL gave a short message. all in all a good day. that night we were treated to a buffet dinner by Miller, a generous member of the church. afterwards we spent some time shopping in a highly commercialized section of Taipei. very reminiscent of Times Sq. tomorrow we visit the LongShan temple, do some touristy stuff, before continuing our ESL program at night.

David's post - 6/23/05

hey all, sorry i haven't put in my 2 cents lately... the schedule has been non stop ever since we arrived. because the ESL class has increased in size beyond what anyone expected, i took on the task of starting another intermediate class. so all the lesson planning that everyone has been doing for the past 2-3 months, i'm doing on the fly. others are readjusting and sometimes totally redoing their lessons to fit the level of their students. my class is geared more towards culture but still involving English vocabulary and vernacular. We visited a Christian orphanage, and have done witnessing at National Taiwan University. keep checking the dotphoto site for pics.

Insomnia

it's david! it's 10 to 5 in the morning. kenny and i are hot... and not because we're good looking either. it's b/c our air conditioner stopped in the middle of the night, and when it did blow, it wasn't cold air. so now we're wide awake listening to the snorers wail away (John, Bob, JJ). i did some exploring and found the roof access so i can take some sunrise pics!

We're at the church

hey all,

we arrived at the church safely. we were met by Dewey and Sophia, 2 of our contacts and guides during this trip. We're finally unpacking at the church and started getting bottled water, from the nearest convienence store. There are a lot of stores, and banks, and other good stuff around here... we start ministry on tues... with evangelism at National Taiwan University, preschool VBS and adult ESL. we were told that there were over 50 ppl signed up for ESL (high school aged, college, and above) PRAISE GOD!!!

keep checking for more updates.

oooh, can u feel the excitement? 12 hours and we'll be on a plane!!! please pray for Hei and her family. Satan's started a preemptive strike on us through her, but God will bounce back and pounce on the devil with everything He's got, but only if we PRAY!
